- Facilitate quality implementation of the livestock related activities under supervision of the Sr program officer.
- Conduct market assessment to identify potential sources of animal husbandry and veterinarian services in the target location.
- Develop a training curriculum and manual regarding livestock management and other livestock-related issues.
- Apply the FFS approach, rule, and regulation during the project implementation.
- Conduct animal husbandry & veterinarian trainings (Stable management, shed management, dairy processing, pasture management, animal health care and disease management, Silage and concentrate food preparation, vaccination and marketing) to livestock holders.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor animal husbandry patterns at target communities.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to provide seasonal vaccinates support to target rightsholders.
- Participate as a technical person for the livestock inputs procurement and make sure quality items are delivered to rightsholders.
- Works with other Program staff to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed.
- Performs other related duties in accordance with instructions from line manager.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in animal health/production, Animal Science, Veterinary faculty, or closely related field.
Experience and Skills Required:
At least 2 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in the following:
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with farmers Communities in the fields of livestock and goat and poultry farming.
- Proven experience in the formation of Farmers’ Self Help Groups and Farmers Field School.
- Strong knowledge and understanding sub-national institutional contexts of Afghanistan.
- Experience in working with local government or NGOs on Livestock/livelihood-related activities in remote areas of Afghanistan.
Language Requirement:
Good working knowledge of Pashto, Dari, and English is required.
Computer Skills:
Good working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, outlook, internet etc. )
