Tax Specialist

duties

  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns.
  • Lead tax planning activities to optimize tax efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Serve as liaison with the tax authorities
  • Preparation of tax based financial statements
  • Ensure full tax compliance in accordance with Afghan tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update all tax data and modules within Odoo ERP.
  • Manage withholding tax deductions and ensure timely payments.
  • Review contracts, invoices, and transactions for tax compliance.
  • Prepare periodic tax reports and summaries for senior management.
  • Maintain proper documentation and organized tax records.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external tax audits.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and implement necessary compliance updates.
  • Coordinate with Finance, HR, Procurement, and Operations to gather tax data.
  • Implement and strengthen internal controls related to tax processes.


Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Support and guide staff involved in tax-related tasks.
  • Train team members on tax procedures and Odoo tax modules.
  • Provide feedback on performance related to tax accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure tax tasks are completed on time and with quality.
  • Promote a compliant, transparent, and accountable work environment.


qualification

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A Master or higher degree and/or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA) is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in taxation and finance, ideally within the construction, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong experience in tax filing, tax planning, and dealing with tax authorities.


Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Afghan tax law and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP system is required.
