duties

Task and Responsibilities

·            Actively promote the importance of staff wellbeing, self-care and team care; carry out psycho-educational sessions to staff

·            Provide individual or group counselling, in order to alleviate the psychosocial difficulties at work of the staff.

·            Refer staff to other mental health specialists or other institutions for further assistance, in collaboration with staff health responsible, when necessary, in order to propose the best support available.

·            Participate in the creation of any material needed for education sessions or counselling activities and look after it,

·            Ensuring that all staff information is kept confidential.

·            Keep files and data of daily activities and participate in staff health meetings when relevant to share global issues of the staff needing attention.

·            Take active part in training, supervision and interventions with other staff support positions. Discuss difficulties and problems in counselling with supervisor.

·            Support the staff Supervisors or Activity Managers when necessary, in doing sensitization for MSF staff or external partners about mental health /psychosocial issues at work.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

•       Carrying out psycho-education and psychosocial sensitization sessions to raise awareness amongst MSF staff about mental health and psychosocial wellbeing at work; MHPSS topics are relevant and tailored to the specific needs of each project /context of work, including but not limited to stress, trauma, self/ team care etc.  

•       Providing punctual individual counselling and basic psycho educational sessions to staff according to MSF protocols for staff experiencing emotional suffering related to work (linked to ongoing stress and/or critical incident)  

•       Providing group counselling to staff according to MSF protocols for emotional support purposes (among others, to foster trust and strengthen ties within the group, to discuss and share individual/group resources about coping, stress management, prevent burnout etc.)

•       Refer staff to other professionals when needed: staff health responsible, GP, psychotherapist, psychiatrist according to the National Staff Health Policy

•       Ensuring that all staff information is kept confidential.

•       Collecting and monitoring data about individual and group activities and reporting to PMR/medical coordinator/ staff health responsible; including maintenance of the MH database for staff health

•       Participating in assessments and contributing to the analysis of psychosocial risk factors at working context 

•       Collaborating with other staff health profiles, especially the Staff Psychosocial Support Service of OCB, according to staff needs, seeking advice on individual cases needing specialized care.

•       Take active part in trainings, supervisions/interventions with other staff support positions. Discuss difficulties and problems in counselling with supervisor, psychosocial support service.

•       Develop wellness-related activities for MSF staff to improve well-being and work performance.

Minimum Requirements and Competencies

 

Education

:Counselling, social work or other similar degree/diploma (bachelor – 3 years study)

Experience

:1 year experience essential. Experience with NGO desirable.

Languages

:Mission language English (spoken and written) language is desirable.

: Local Language: Pashto/ Dari Essential
