duties

1. Identify the outdoor and indoor games for all categories of children and adolescents properly.

2. Take part to procure good quality of materials relevant to PSS and non-formal educational activities.  

3. The Child Friendly Spaces or Child caring center (CCC) are identified within the communities with close collaboration of community volunteers based on Tdh PSS centers’ selection criteria.

4. Identification of proper and secure places  with close coordination of social workers and community elders to organize PSS activities.

5. Regular visit to the targeted villages for conducting PSS  activities.

6. Build the capacity to raise awareness on child’s rights, child protection issues.

7. Design and implement recreational and psychosocial support (PSS) activities, actively involving children (with a strong focus on child’s specific needs and vulnerabilities) 

8. Ensure that children get all necessary support during the activities and that rules and discipline are set up in a positive and constructive way 

9. Prepare activities plan/schedule and arrange materials needed for the activities on regular bases.

10. Collect information (attendance sheets, questionnaires, etc.) and report identified cases of children with specific needs/extremely vulnerable children are referred to the social workers

11. Keeping regular recording  the lessons learned and Success case stories and report them to the Project manager or Project Assistant to be considered in the donor reporting.

12. Arrange PSS training for Community volunteers with preparation of all needed training materials.

13. Attend all required internal and external trainings and meetings properly.

14. Report on a weekly basis to the line manager on the progress of his/her activities.

15. Perform any other identical duty as assigned by line supervisor

16. Warmly receive children when they come to the activities 

17. Make sure to have enough recreational, educational materials at the CFSs and create local materials for smooth and adopted approach for PSS , educational activities with children .

18. Be careful not to offend any child in the course of your work (do no harm)

19. Data collection and maintenance of records on the children database and shared with Data clerk. 

20. "Animation: Organize the children by age groups and implement the activities according to their needs:

21. Activities with a psychosocial aim, which includes organized and free games and sports,

22. Expressive activities, i.e. small group discussions on children’s concerns (in collaboration with the Social Workers),

23. Ensure the confidentiality of the data.

Child Protection Knowledge and Competencies

• Has significant experience of working in the child protection sector.

• Is able to make considered decisions about how to act to safeguard or promote recognizes signs of abuse, exploitation children’s welfare.

• Is able to work with children and their families in a range of complex situations addressing issues such as resilience and recovery.

• Promotes and speaks with authority about the principles and approaches to child protection programming.

• Leads team to make existential choices about how best to use the available time and resources to address violations of children’s right to protection.

• Strengthens the linkage between national policies and structures and community-based care and protection mechanisms including traditional mechanisms.

Works effectively and collaboratively with other agencies to pursue common goals in child protection.



qualification

NOTE: We strongly request that candidates read the job responsibilities and requirements carefully.

• Graduated from Social Science or any relevant faculty 

• 2 years working Experience in similar position with national or international organizations in Afghanistan.

• Fluency in oral and written communication in English, including representation, liaison and negotiation skills in (Pashto and Dari).

• Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). 

• Cultural Knowledge: 

Excellent understanding of the region and its cultural aspects.

• Networking and Communication: 

Strong networking skills with the ability to engage various stakeholders effectively.

• Initiative and Negotiation: 

Capability to take initiatives and demonstrate excellent negotiation skills.

• Reporting: Proficient in report writing.

• Contextual Understanding: Well-versed in the socio-political and cultural context of Afghanistan.
