Scope of Work:
The Psychologist will perform the following key tasks:
Assessment and Evaluation:
· Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of participants to identify their mental health needs and support requirements.
· Provide professional recommendations on appropriate interventions and referrals to mental health services.
· Collaborate with the Psychosocial Support Coordinator to develop individualized support plans for participants.
Counseling and Psychotherapy:
· Provide individual and group counseling sessions to participants as needed.
· Utilize evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques to address trauma, stress, and other mental health concerns.
· Ensure the provision of culturally appropriate and contextually relevant psychosocial support.
Training and Capacity Building:
· Develop and deliver training workshops for the Psychosocial Support Coordinator and program staff on topics such as mental health first aid, trauma-informed care, and
self-care.
· Provide supervision and mentoring to the Psychosocial Support Coordinator to enhance their skills and knowledge in psychosocial support.
Coordination and Collaboration:
· Work closely with the Psychosocial Support Coordinator to ensure seamless integration of mental health services within the journalism training program.
· Participate regularly in meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and recommendations.
· Write reports on psychosocial support activities and outcomes.
Reporting:
The Psychologist will work in close collaboration with the psychosocial support coordinator, program manager and the project team to report on the results.
· Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related mental health field.
· Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in providing mental health services, with a focus on trauma-informed care and psychosocial support.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of the local cultural context and its impact on mental health.
· Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs on mental health and psychosocial support.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· Fluency in the local language(s).
Duration and Remuneration:
The Psychologist will be engaged on a consultant basis, with the specific number of sessions and remuneration to be determined based on the program's needs and the consultant's expertise.
