Project Manager

duties

  • Provide overall management and supervision of the consultancy team across the designated project sites.
  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, hydrogeological/geotechnical, and ESHS engineers to ensure work is executed according to contract and standards.
  • Oversee the implementation schedule, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Ensure compliance with Afghanistan Building Codes, engineering standards, and UNICEF requirements.
  • Participate in regular progress meetings, including bi-weekly site meetings and fortnightly UNICEF project reviews.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) on construction progress, quality, safety, and financial tracking.
  • Monitor the contractor’s activities, issue instructions, and coordinate any variation orders or claims.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is maintained and submitted: site logbooks, material tests, as-built drawings, payment certifications, defect liability reports, etc.
  • Support handover procedures, including preparation of substantial and final completion certificates and defect lists.

qualification

Educational Background:

  • University degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in construction supervision and project management, particularly in the education or infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site projects in challenging environments.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance, engineering codes, safety protocols, and construction standards.
  • Excellent skills in planning, coordination, and reporting.
  • Proficient in using project management tools and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
