- Safe and efficient delivery of high levels of commercial availability within environmental limits.
- Operates, monitors, records, inspects, and controls all plant parameters for his area of responsibility.
- Communication between DABS NLCC and AGE dispatching, and writing the communication reports.
- Provides start-up or shutdown services and participates in a simulated emergency shutdown of plant equipment periodically to prevent damage and to assure the efficiency of operation.
- Advises the external control operator of operational maintenance needed.
- Effective liaison with the rest of the shift over plant operational issues.
- Effective liaison with maintenance departments and personnel to ensure that faults are identified and fixed safely, quickly, and correctly, and that equipment is appropriately tested before being put back into service.
- Make decisions, or assist others to make decisions, to resolve plant operational problems with immediate, medium, and long-term consequences.
- Be an active part of the shift and help it meet appropriate people and plant-related performance measures.
- Ensure that Company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are implemented and carried out.
- Participate in internal/external Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental audits and monitor relevant findings.
- Help ensure that all procedures, documentation, drawings, and manuals are kept up to date and necessary training is completed promptly.
- Participate in suitable training programs, both for individual development and operational competence, and help to develop knowledge and experience in colleagues.
- Ability to supervise some contractor activities and ensure that plant safety rules are followed at all times.
- Monitor equipment status in the field and take the necessary inputs as required.
- Continues improvement in the process of work.
- Provides on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced technicians as required.
- Make sure that, based on the training program prepared by the control room engineer, he is trained to operate in areas other than his own.
- Any other tasks that may be required.
- Experience in power stations.
- Experience preferred in Gas Turbines and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.
- Experience in setting and/or mobilizing an O&M company in the field of power projects would be an advantage.
- Good foundation and practical knowledge of power plant operations, preferably including electrical systems.
- Power plant engineering concepts.
- Thorough understanding of Gas Turbine plant operating practices.
- Operation of equipment in the field and local panels.
- Ability and experience in recognizing fault conditions in field equipment, e.g., by temperature, smell, vibration, color changes, noises, etc.
- Ability to operate the plant efficiently within a varying range of load conditions
- Ability to coordinate with control room engineers
- Ability to give accurate feedback to maintenance personnel on equipment problems
- Ability to control incidents in a range of situations
- Strong understanding of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment management systems and safety rules.
- Good command of the English language and Computer literacy.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to recognize safety issues and hazards to personnel, and to act on own initiative in preventing incidents.
- Ability to work calmly in emergencies and to recognize and attend to critical tasks.
