Task and Responsibilities
• Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anaesthetist, whenever required or needed, to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
• Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
• Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
• Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
• Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome, and support decision-taking.
• Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
In order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality, organise and coordinate the activities of team supervised (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.)
• Communicate with the HR Admin department all relevant information in due time, evaluate performance, define, and ensure the needs for training.
• Participate in daily medical round.
• Participate in the gathering training sessions and the bedside training as well as audit surveillance. Take the lead to ensure all the team involved to understand well and to perform accordingly.
• Participate in bi-monthly report SITREP according to guidance and any other reports required.
• Organize and conduct the ward weekly meeting as well as participating the other meeting required (morning general meeting, supervisor meetings, IPC committee, blood transfusion committee, etc.)
• Working in good collaboration with all medical team (Doctor, Nurse, Nurse assistant, HP, register, and Cleaner) as well as the other department (Log and HR/Fin). Work together in a team with 9 other supervisors. Be flexible by working in different paediatric departments.
• Supervise the pharmacy management and support their improvement with good collaboration with Pharmacy supervisor and related staff.
• Ensuring a smooth running of patients/caretakers from triage and admission until exit/discharge.
• Ensuring the hygiene status high level with good collaboration with IPC supervisor and Head of Cleaner.
• Ensuring the maintenance for biomedical equipment used, the functional monitoring / handover system, following the user manual and protocols, and proceeding the biomed repairing request system with good collaboration with log/biomed technician in case of malfunctioning.
• Take the responsibility and contribute on the regular biomed inventory and whenever required.
• Give regular feedback to the line manager and report directly any issue or incident. Participate in the investigation process whenever required.
• Respect all the patient dignity, the medical secret and the confidentiality of the patients and their family.
• Be familiar in making rosters and checking the roster.
Minimum Requirements and Competencies
Education - Speciality (nurse or anaesthetist) diploma essential.
Experience - Essential 2 years of previous experience. Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s
Languages - Local language Dari/ Pashto essential. English Mission language essential
Knowledge - Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
