Key Responsibilities
A. International Transportation & Route Management
- Plan and manage multimodal transport operations (sea, road) from India to Chabahar port (Iran), and onward to Nimruz and Afghanistan.
- Select, negotiate, and manage relationships with freight forwarders, transport companies, customs brokers, and other logistics partners.
- Monitor transit timelines and proactively address bottlenecks, route delays, port congestion, or political/security concerns.
- Optimize route efficiency and reduce transportation costs while ensuring product safety and regulatory compliance.
- Online tracking and tracing the cargo
B. Customs & Regulatory Compliance
- Manage customs clearance processes in India, Iran (Chabahar Free Zone / Port), and Afghanistan, ensuring full compliance with local and international regulations.
- Prepare and review all shipping and customs documentation, including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Certificates of Analysis (CoA)
- Import/export permits
- Waybills/Bills of Lading
- Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) pharmaceutical import requirements
- Coordinate trade compliance requirements including sanctions checks, import licensing, and controlled drug regulations (if applicable).
C. Pharmaceutical Supply Chain & Cold Chain Management
- Ensure proper handling of temperature-sensitive and high-value pharmaceutical products.
- Oversee cold chain monitoring throughout transport, including validation of temperature logs and condition of active/passive cooling systems.
- Develop SOPs for handling, storage, and distribution specific to pharmaceutical standards
D. Operational Coordination
- Coordinate with manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution teams for seamless shipment planning.
- Ensure proper packaging in compliance with product stability and transit requirements.
- Track shipments across all legs of the route; maintain real-time communication with stakeholders.
E. Risk Management
- Assess and mitigate logistics risks related to:
- Security in transit corridors & insurance
- Political/regulatory changes
- Border disruptions
- Temperature excursions
- Product theft/diversion
- Develop and maintain contingency plans for rerouting or emergency responses.
F. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain detailed transportation logs, route performance data, and customs records.
- Prepare regular reports on delivery metrics, costs, delays, and compliance issues.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance overall logistics efficiency.
G. Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel across India, Iran (Chabahar), and Afghanistan as needed.
- Fluency in English; Dari/Pashto/Farsi is an asset.
- Strong ethical standards and adherence to anti-corruption policies.
- Ability to work in regions with evolving security risks.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced diploma or certification in logistics or international trade (preferred).
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in international transportation or logistics, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Proven experience handling cross-border shipments via the Chabahar route, Iranian transit processes, and Afghanistan customs.
- Strong understanding of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and pharma regulatory requirements.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of sea freight, road freight, and multimodal logistics.
- Experience with customs platforms, HS codes, and regulatory documentation.
- Familiarity with temperature-controlled logistics and cold-chain technologies.
- Proficiency with logistics management systems (LMS), ERP, and shipment tracking tools.
