1. Audit Execution & Fieldwork
- Conduct operational, financial, and compliance audits at head office and provincial branches.
- Perform transaction testing, document reviews, and process walkthroughs to assess control effectiveness.
- Observe procedures and interview staff to verify adherence to SOPs, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify irregularities, inefficiencies, and non-compliance issues, and document findings with supporting evidence.
- Participate in fraud detection efforts and escalate suspicious activities to the Audit Coordinator.
2. Risk Assessment & Control Evaluation
- Evaluate internal controls across procurement, inventory, HR, finance, logistics, and administration.
- Identify risk exposures and recommend practical control enhancements and process improvements.
- Assist in developing risk-based audit scopes and contribute to annual audit planning.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare structured audit working papers, field visit notes, and evidence logs.
- Draft audit reports summarizing findings, root causes, and recommended corrective actions.
- Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and completeness in all audit documentation and communications.
4. Follow-Up & Compliance Monitoring
- Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and verify corrective actions.
- Conduct follow-up audits to assess resolution of previously identified issues.
- Maintain and update audit issue trackers, escalation logs, and compliance dashboards.
5. Coordination & Support
- Collaborate with departments to collect data, clarify audit queries, and facilitate access to records.
- Coordinate with provincial offices to schedule field visits and gather operational insights.
- Support the Audit Coordinator in preparing presentations, reports, and updates for senior management.
- Participate in internal audit meetings, briefings, and committee sessions as required.
6. Policy & Process Review
- Review internal policies, SOPs, and workflows for consistency, clarity, and compliance.
- Provide feedback on documentation gaps and recommend improvements to operational procedures.
- Assist in benchmarking internal controls against industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
7. Special Assignments & Investigations
- Support ad hoc audits, investigations, and management requests for targeted reviews.
- Assist in verifying procurement transactions, asset movements, and HR-related compliance.
- Contribute to audit readiness for external reviews and donor assessments, if applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIA, ACCA, CISA) is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in internal audit, compliance, or financial control roles.
- Prior experience in trading, logistics, or FMCG sectors is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Afghan labor law, internal control frameworks, and audit methodologies.
