As the Integration & Digital Payment Specialist, your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
System Integration & API Development
- Design and implement secure API integrations between core banking systems, mobile money platforms, and third-party payment providers.
- Develop and maintain robust middleware solutions to enable interoperability across multiple systems.
- Ensure end-to-end data exchange integrity between financial systems, apps, and digital payment gateways.
- Document all integration workflows, protocols, and data mapping structures for internal and external stakeholders.
Digital Payments & Mobile Money Solutions
- Lead technical integration with mobile network operators (MNOs), fintech partners, and payment gateways.
- Support onboarding and operationalization of new digital payment channels (USSD, QR codes, wallets, card payments).
- Manage transaction routing, reconciliation processes, and settlement reporting.
- Implement and optimize mobile banking, SMS banking, and agent network connectivity.
Application Development & Support
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of Android/iOS applications for financial service delivery.
- Support the design of user-friendly, secure interfaces for customers and agents.
- Collaborate with developers to maintain app performance, testing, and version control.
Security, Compliance & Performance
- Ensure that all integrations adhere to international best practices on data security and financial transaction protocols.
- Implement measures to safeguard API endpoints, encryption keys, and sensitive data.
- Conduct regular testing and troubleshooting to maintain uptime, performance, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Stakeholder Coordination & Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams, vendors, and mobile network partners to align technical deliverables with business goals.
- Participate in vendor selection, contract management, and service-level monitoring.
- Provide technical input to project managers and contribute to system architecture planning.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with emerging trends in digital payments, fintech, and open banking standards.
- Recommend process automation and new digital payment tools to enhance efficiency.
- Support pilot projects involving digital wallets, biometric verification, or instant payment solutions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience integrating mobile money platforms, payment gateways, and APIs.
- Proven record of developing and deploying API-based integrations within financial systems.
- Experience in app development (Android/iOS) and SMS banking solutions.
- Strong understanding of digital payment infrastructures, fintech ecosystems, and transaction security.
- Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, OAuth, and payment security standards (PCI DSS, ISO 8583, etc.).
- Knowledge of mobile money APIs (e.g., M-Pesa, MTN, Airtel Money) and digital wallet ecosystems.
- Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and microservices.
- Experience in financial inclusion, donor-funded digital transformation, or fintech partnerships is a strong asset.
