Task and Responsibilities

HPCE strategy, activities and monitoring:

·       Actively contribute to the design/adaptation of the HPCE strategy / workplan.

·       Lead and follow up on the implementation of the HPCE strategy / workplan, according to the chronogram.

·       Support participatory approaches and regular patient/community consultations before and during implementation of the HPCE strategy.

·       Organizing health awareness sessions for MSF's medical and non-medical staff

·       Support in the design of health education materials and participatory methods, applying the right process (pretesting, validation of content, translation).

·       Contribute to rapid assessments and surveys.

·       Actively support in the systematic collection, encoding and reporting of community feedback and rumors.

·       Support the implementation of community-based surveillance (data collection, active case finding, tracing, linkage to care.

·       Responsible for the planning and organization of community meetings (in collaboration with HPCE Manager).

·       Contribute to the community mapping.

·       Monitoring: Ensure the availability of the data collection tools; the data encoding in the data base and the quality check.

·       Monitoring: Contribute to the analysis of the monitoring data and look for adjustment (in collaboration with HPCE manager), monthly reporting (MMR, sitrep, etc).

Team management:

·       Contribute to evaluation of the HP team (with the HPCE manager).

·       Contribute to the development plan for the HP team.

·       Training: Contribute to the needs assessment, design and implementation of training for the HP team, in collaboration with the HPCE manager.

·       Organize regular and systematic supervision of the HP activities and provide on the job-coaching.

·       Ensure the planning and practical organization of the activities for the HP team (HP roaster).

·       Ensure the organization of regular HP team meetings.

 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:

·       Provide on-the-job supervision and technical feedback through close utilization of the Supervision Skills Grid for all health promoters in Khost Maternity Hospital to ensure participatory approaches and correct information. Identify training needs among health promoters in the hospital and report to Health Promotion Manager in a timely way.

·       Ensure the smooth implementation of new health promotion messages guides and tools, materials (games/storytelling) by conducing exemplary demonstrations, close follow-up and providing the necessary follow-up trainings.

·       Contribute to the development of health education tools and materials, for example, ad-hoc translation, pre-testing, and design where appropriate.

·       Ensure good representation of the health promotion department at medical meetings, highlight achievements and challenges, and apply a solution-orientated approach by collaborating with medical departments and actively address interdepartmental challenges.

·       Enable accurate data collection conducted by the health promotion team within Khost Maternity Hospital, through preparation of materials, on-the-job supervision and contributions to training and capacity building. This includes, Surgical-Site infection follow-up, malnutrition follow-up, patient experience surveys and assessment of car-deliveries.

·       Be responsible for the data collection for rapid qualitative assessments, for-example, focus group discussions and interviews to better understand health seeking behavior, barriers to healthcare and knowledge, attitudes, and practices among women on reproductive health topics.

·       Enable the quality implementation of the patient charter by ensuring well maintained and functional feedback mechanisms and optimizing quality information provided to patients and caretakers about their treatment and services provided (for example, Welcome Talks / Service Orientation.

·       Be responsible for the planning and preparation of Global Health Days (breastfeeding week, immunization week etc)

·       Enable the smooth implementation of the Menstrual Health Initiative by supporting with the data collection, design and sensitization and training of staff members.

·       Responsible for the Registrar team, supervision, follow-up, and training.

·       Reports barriers and challenges obstruction quality health promotion activities to HP Manager or Project Medical Referent in a timely manner.

·       Remain flexible, ready to step in and support where needed; including conducting roles and responsibilities of the Health Promotion Officer where required.

·       Be flexible to take visits and trips outside of Khost Maternity Hospital for work purposes, including visits to Community Health Centers (CHCs) female madrassas etc.

qualification

Minimum Requirements and Competencies

 

Education

·          Desirable: bachelor diploma in social sciences, social work, behavioural sciences, public health, community health, nursing. Essential: secondary school diploma.

Experience

·          Essential: At least 2 years’ experience in: •health promotion • team management experience • program implementation Experience qualitative methodology is highly desirable

Languages

 

Knowledge                            

Mission language English (spoken and written) language is mandatory.

Local Language: Pashto/ Dari Essential

Competencies - Results, Basic competencies in word and excel are essential.
