- Conduct design and consulting services for geotechnical engineering works including foundation pit engineering, foundation engineering, ground improvement engineering, slope engineering, and excavation support systems for cement plant projects.
- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations for cement plant structures and infrastructure including heavy foundations for rotary kilns, mills, silos, conveyors, and buildings.
- Supervise drilling, sampling, and all in-situ testing works in accordance with approved investigation programs and international standards.
- Visit project sites regularly to assess ground conditions, monitor field activities, and resolve design-related technical issues during construction.
- Analyze soil and rock laboratory and field test results and prepare professional geotechnical and engineering geology investigation reports.
- Provide foundation design recommendations for heavy equipment, industrial buildings, silos, conveyors, and rotary kilns.
- Prepare design recommendations for excavations, earthworks, and retaining structures.
- Evaluate and recommend suitable ground improvement methods whenever required based on site conditions.
- Ensure that all geotechnical works and designs comply with ASTM, BS, ACI, AASHTO, Eurocode standards.
- Coordinate continuously with structural, civil, construction, laboratory, and client teams both at site and office levels.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly technical progress and monitoring reports.
- Provide site samples for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling, tracking, and documentation of all samples.
- Implement and deliver projects involving engineering geology inputs including AUA and client coordination, fieldwork execution, analysis, and reporting in compliance with technical specifications.
- Execute project work in accordance with approved technical scope, budget, and time schedule.
- Carry out engineering geology studies and investigations, supervise field testing, sampling, and analysis using accepted methods and computer applications.
- Monitor all fieldwork and laboratory testing, review contractors’ geotechnical reports, and provide continuous technical guidance.
- Ensure contractors’ geotechnical works, testing, and reporting fully comply with project standards and specifications.
- Perform site surveys, study construction materials, and determine material types (hard and soft strata) based on field conditions and available equipment.
- Work closely with the technical survey team to identify material types and assign appropriate survey codes.
- Analyze laboratory test results and calculate allowable bearing capacity for structural foundations.
- Identify frost-susceptible materials and calculate freezing depth using laboratory and climatic data in compliance with AASHTO, ASTM, BS, and US Army Corps standards.
- Analyze soil samples to determine composition, engineering properties, and suitability for supporting the proposed structures.
- Work closely with laboratory staff and technicians to evaluate soil components and ensure accuracy and quality of test results.
- Perform proposal preparation, documentation organization, coordination with external parties, review of investigation reports, and provide post-construction geotechnical technical support.
- Perform any other technical duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor as required by the project.
EDUCATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional certifications in soil testing, foundation design, or geological studies are an advantage.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in geotechnical investigation and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Soil mechanics and rock mechanics
- Foundation design for industrial structures (silos, chimneys, cement plants, heavy machinery)
- Slope stability analysis in Slide
- Bearing capacity calculation (Terzaghi, Meyerhof and Hanson)
- Settlement analysis
- Experience with laboratory and field testing:
- SPT, CPT, Plate Load Test
- Soil classification, compaction, permeability, CBR, etc.
- Familiarity with geotechnical software:
- PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SAFE, SLIDE, or equivalent
