- Exploration & Surveying
- Conduct geological field surveys, sampling, and mapping to identify potential resource deposits.
- Utilize geophysical and geochemical methods to assess subsurface conditions.
- Interpret seismic, core, and well log data to support exploration programs.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze geological data using specialized software and prepare detailed geological models.
- Evaluate the economic potential of mineral and resource deposits.
- Compile and present technical reports, maps, and recommendations for management review.
- Extraction Planning & Support
- Collaborate with engineers to design and optimize extraction methods that balance efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
- Monitor drilling, blasting, and excavation activities to ensure compliance with geological plans.
- Provide real-time guidance during exploration and extraction operations.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure all field and extraction activities comply with environmental and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies in geological operations.
- Promote sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work cross-functionally with project managers, mining engineers, and environmental specialists.
- Support innovation by applying new exploration techniques and extraction technologies.
- Contribute to training junior staff and knowledge sharing within the team.
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional certification/registration (e.g., P.Geo, CPG) is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in geological exploration, mining, or resource extraction.
- Proven experience in fieldwork, sampling, mapping, and resource evaluation.
- Background in mineral exploration, drilling supervision, or extraction project support is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with geological modeling and GIS software (e.g., Surpac, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of geophysical and geochemical exploration methods.
- Ability to interpret core samples, seismic data, and well logs.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards in exploration and mining.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel and work in remote or challenging conditions.
