- Advise on the learning design for foundational literacy television programmes, including scope, sequence, progression and episode-level learning objectives.
- Translate international proficiency frameworks, including the UNESCO Global Proficiency Framework, into practical and achievable learning constructs for broadcast delivery.
- Define and prioritise essential foundational literacy components for television, including phonological awareness, phonics and decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and basic writing.
- Advise on appropriate levels of repetition, planned revisiting of skills, and retrieval practice across episodes and series to support learning through television.
- Identify and help avoid common pitfalls in non-curricular literacy programming, including cognitive overload, insufficient practice, weak scaffolding, inappropriate tone and lack of progression.
- Work closely with producers, writers, presenters and designers to ensure content is engaging, age-appropriate and instructionally sound.
- Provide guidance on effective on-screen pedagogy and television-specific instructional techniques, including modelling, guided practice and segment pacing.
- Support quality assurance of scripts and learning segments to ensure alignment with the literacy framework and intended learning outcomes.
- Prepare concise technical guidance for internal teams, including framework notes, progression maps and key dos and don’ts.
- Advanced degree or equivalent expertise in language education or a related field.
- At least five years of experience designing foundational or remedial literacy programmes, including for older learners with early-grade learning gaps.
- Strong command of evidence-based foundational literacy instruction
- Demonstrated ability to use international frameworks, including the UNESCO Global Proficiency Framework, to design learning progressions outside a full curriculum.
- Experience with television or other mass-media is a strong asset.
