Electrical/Solar Engineer

duties

  • Supervise and oversee on-site installation of solar PV systems, including inverters, batteries, distribution boards, grounding, cabling/wiring, and lightning protection.
  • Review and validate implementation against approved designs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Inspect electrical equipment and materials delivered to the site to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Monitor technical team activities and enforce compliance with health, safety, social, and environmental safeguards.
  • Conduct site tests and participate in commissioning activities, ensuring operational performance.
  • Ensure all electrical installations are properly labelled, documented, and integrated into system manuals.
  • Prepare daily logs, inspection notes, and technical progress reports for submission to the Project Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with the Civil Engineer to ensure civil structures properly support electrical installations.
  • Provide on-site training and guidance to technicians and local operators on safe system use and maintenance.
  • Report risks, technical issues, or incidents promptly to the Project Coordinator, with recommendations for resolution.

qualification

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical works, preferably in renewable/solar PV energy or infrastructure projects.
  3. Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and protection devices.
  4. Familiarity with international and national electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC).
  5. Proven experience in supervising contractors and technicians on site.
  6. Good understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  7. Strong reporting and documentation skills.
  8. Ability to work under challenging field conditions and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  9. Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
