Electrical Site Engineer

duties

1. Installation and Supervision

  • Supervise installation of electrical systems including PV modules, string inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, switchgear, SCADA systems, and earthing networks.
  • Ensure all electrical work comply with design specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and safety codes.
  • Monitor cable laying, terminations, labeling, and insulation testing activities.
  • Verify correct DC/AC wiring connections and grounding arrangements.

2. Testing and Commissioning

  • Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests on PV arrays, inverters, transformers, and control systems.
  • Prepare inspection and testing reports, checklists, and as-built documentation.
  • Support performance verification, synchronization, and grid connection procedures.

3. Quality Control and Safety

  • Implement strict QA/QC protocols to ensure work quality and system reliability.
  • Enforce site safety standards and participate in toolbox talks and HSE audits.
  • Verify use of approved materials and monitor subcontractor compliance.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed site records, including progress reports, inspection reports, and material tracking.
  • Support preparation of electrical as-built drawings and redline markups.
  • Report daily site progress, challenges, and required technical solutions to the site manager or Project Manager.

5. Coordination and Technical Support

  • Collaborate with design teams, civil engineers, and procurement staff to ensure timely project execution.
  • Provide technical assistance during installation, fault finding, and maintenance.
  • Liaise with suppliers, consultants, and clients during inspection and handover stages.

6. Operation and Maintenance Support

  • Assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems.
  • Train site technicians and operators on system operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.


qualification

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (master’s preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in power energy, solar PV or renewable energy projects in MW scale.
  • Proven experience with installation, testing, and commissioning large-scale solar or hybrid systems.
  • Familiarity with inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of solar PV design, LV/MV power systems, and protection coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, MS Office, and SCADA monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of IEC/IEEE electrical standards and Afghan grid regulations.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto (required).
  • Good command of English (preferred).

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel and work at remote project sites across Afghanistan.
  • Strong leadership, reporting, and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
