- Develop detailed drilling programs including trajectory, BHA design, casing design, mud logging program, cementing schedule, and required services.
- Perform well engineering calculations such as hydraulics, torque & drag, geotechnical analysis, and wellbore stability.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify drilling hazards, and prepare mitigation plans.
- Evaluate offset well data to improve design accuracy and performance.
- Provide specialized technical support to field drilling supervisors during 24/7 operations.
- Monitor real-time drilling parameters and proactively recommend adjustments to optimize performance.
- Troubleshoot complex drilling issues such as:
- Well kicks
- Lost circulation
- Stuck pipe incidents
- BHA failures
- Hole cleaning problems
- Ensure proper implementation of well control procedures in compliance with IWCF / IADC standards.
- Ensure all drilling operations comply with HSE standards, API/ISO regulations, and company policies.
- Oversee quality control of casing and cementing operations, pressure tests, BOP tests, and well integrity verifications.
- Prepare cost estimates, AFE, and track expenditures against the approved budget.
- Identify opportunities to reduce drilling time (NPT minimization) through improved practices and technology.
- Evaluate performance of service companies and drilling contractors.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and end-of-well engineering reports.
- Maintain updated well files, lessons learned, and performance benchmarking data.
- Participate in post-well reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Master/Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related field.
- 5–7 years of hands-on drilling engineering experience (onshore/offshore).
- Valid IWCF or IADC Well Control Certificate (Supervisor Level preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Well planning/design software: Pipesim, DrillPlan, CorePlan, Drillsoft HDX, Petrel, OpenLab.
- Drilling fluids and hydraulics
- Geomechanics and wellbore stability
