KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:

- Identify and close the performance gap between domestic and international cricket.
- Establish structured off-season and individual player development programs through the HPC.
- Lead the systematic development and modernization of the ACB High Performance Centre.
- Provide technical assistance to the Selection Committee and support a transparent, consistent, and merit-based selection process for domestic and international cricket.
- Prioritize and expand national team and regional camps held within Afghanistan.
- Take an active and efficient role in cricket policy, technical regulation, and long-term strategy making.
- Promote a high-performance culture of discipline, professionalism, integrity, and continuous development.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. High Performance Centre:
- Oversee all HPC operations and ensure high-quality coaching, player development, rehabilitation, and conditioning programs.
- Develop an annual High Performance Plan, covering in-season and off-season programs.
- Ensure every contracted or priority player has an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
- Establish structured off-season skill development blocks, technical camps, and fitness programs at the HPC.
- Introduce modern performance analysis, sports science, injury prevention protocols, and workload management systems.
- Benchmark HPC systems against leading ICC Full Member nations and implement ongoing improvements.
- Implement coach education programs and ensure continuous development for coaches, analysts, physios, and S&C staff.
- Monitor top domestic performers for future national team pathways and provide specialist support where required.
2. International Cricket:
- Manage all international series, venues, preparation camps, and training schedules for senior and junior national teams.
- Ensure compliance with ICC eligibility, anti-corruption, security, and operational standards.
- Oversee tour planning, player preparation, performance benchmarking, and post-series reviews.
- Maintain strong coordination with ICC officials, match referees, umpires, and security personnel.
- Prioritize national team training camps and specialist programs within Afghanistan whenever conditions allow.
- Ensure lessons from international tours feed back into domestic structure and player development plans.
3. Domestic Cricket:
- Design, lead, and review the national domestic cricket structure and competition calendar.
- Strengthen all pathways from club cricket to regional and national levels.
- Ensure domestic formats, pitch conditions, and competition intensity prepare players for international cricket.
- Manage all domestic tournaments and budgets, including Grade I & II, U-16, First-Class, Shpageeza League, List A, and PWD competitions.
- Develop and oversee talent identification (TID) systems across all regions.
- Introduce bridging programs such as Emerging, A-Team, and specialist tours to reduce the domestic–international gap.
- Work with HPC to prepare high-potential domestic players for international standards.
4. Facility & Turf Management:
- Oversee the design, construction, maintenance, and enhancement of indoor and outdoor cricket facilities.
- Ensure the availability of high-quality training and match-ready grounds across the country.
- Prepare annual facility maintenance and development budgets aligned with long-term infrastructure plans.
- Guide ground staff on pitch preparation, turf quality, and international match requirements.
- Ensure facility development supports ACB’s strategy of hosting camps inside Afghanistan.
5. Selection Committee & Selection Systems:
- Oversee the development and implementation of a written selection policy with transparent criteria.
- Ensure selection is merit-based, data-informed, and free from conflict of interest.
- Maintain updated depth charts, succession plans, and player performance databases.
- Guide selectors in aligning domestic and international selection standards.
- Ensure selection processes support long-term player development and national team competitiveness.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary technical advisor to the CEO and Board.
- Build and maintain a unified technical ecosystem across all cricket departments.
- Provide regular operational and performance updates to the CEO.
- Lead strategic planning for all cricket operations and ensure alignment with ACB’s strategic plan.
- Enhance team professionalism, discipline, and performance across all formats.
- Improve Afghanistan’s ICC rankings through structured performance systems.
- Maintain strong working relationships with team management, captains, coaches, and players.
- Ensure full compliance with ACB and ICC Codes of Conduct.
- Lead the planning of training programs, practice sessions, and performance reviews.
- Conduct pre- and post-match analyses to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop long-term succession plans for national team players and technical staff.
- Promote a culture of learning, responsibility, and continuous improvement.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee internal trials, selection camps, and pre-season programs.
- Recruit, appoint, and develop national and regional coaches.
- Deliver coaching education programs in umpiring, scoring, curating, analysis, physiotherapy, and S&C.
- Support development of women’s cricket and disability cricket according to ACB priorities and ICC frameworks.
- Manage cricket department budgets and strategic planning processes.
- Supervise umpires and match officials in coordination with ICC, ACC, and ACB departments.
- Prepare and submit periodic performance and operational reports.
- Strengthen player welfare systems, including education, mental well-being, and life-skills support.
- Master’s Degree in Sports Management or related field.
- ICC Level 3 Coaching Qualification (minimum).
- Proven success as a domestic or international cricket coach.
- Minimum 10 years of coaching experience, preferably with an ICC Full Member.
- At least 5 years in a senior cricket management or Director of Cricket role.
- Experience managing domestic and national structures in a Full Member nation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Ability to manage high-performance environments under pressure.
- Strong planning, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- High levels of professionalism, discipline, and integrity.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

It was granted affiliate membership by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001, associate membership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003 and full membership of International Cricket Council in June 2017. Afghanistan has its National Cricket Teams playing among top 10 cricketing countries of the world.
