Food Preparation Support
- Assist in preparation of daily meals including cutting, chopping, peeling, seasoning, and portioning ingredients according to meal plans.
- Prepare beverages such as tea, coffee, and juices for staff and visitors.
- Assist in baking, grilling, and frying tasks under supervision of the Senior Cook.
- Support in menu execution and ensure meals are appealing, nutritious, and prepared on time.
- Help in portion control to minimize waste and ensure consistency in serving quantities.
Kitchen & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and hygienic condition of the kitchen, dining area, storage rooms, and utensils at all times.
- Wash pots, pans, cooking utensils, and food containers promptly after use.
- Conduct regular cleaning of kitchen equipment (refrigerators, gas stoves, ovens, cutting boards, etc.).
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste following environmental and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and report malfunctioning kitchen appliances to the supervisor immediately.
Inventory & Supplies Handling
- Assist in receiving food stock and supplies, inspecting items for quality and expiry dates.
- Store perishable and non-perishable items properly using FIFO (First In, First Out) system.
- Track and record stock levels and promptly inform Senior Cook of low or missing items.
- Maintain order and organization in storage shelves, freezer, pantry, and fridges.
Meal Service
- Arrange and serve meals to staff and guests during scheduled meal times.
- Refill food stations and ensure tidy presentation throughout service hours.
- Collect used dishes and utensils from dining areas and ensure timely washing.
- Ensure courteous, respectful, and professional interaction with all employees and guests.
Safety & Compliance
- Comply with internal policies, food safety standards, and Afghanistan public health requirements.
- Use personal protective equipment (gloves, apron, head cover) when handling food.
- Ensure strict adherence to hygiene standards including handwashing and sanitization protocols.
- Participate in regular food safety and hygiene training sessions.
Other Duties
- Support special events catering (meetings, workshops, celebrations).
- Follow direction from Senior Cook and Administration Supervisor on daily tasks and priorities.
- Assist colleagues when needed for smooth operation of the cafeteria.
Education & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in hospitality, cafeteria, or kitchen environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to communicate in Dari and/or Pashto

- Work may include weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as needed.
