duties

1) Construction & Site Execution

  • Lead end-to-end construction activities for 220kV AIS substation, including:
  •  Civil works (earthwork, foundations, trenches, ducts, drainage, buildings)
  •  Electrical installation (power transformers, switchgear, CT/VT, disconnectors, busbars)
  •  Control & protection, SCADA, telecom systems, AC/DC systems, battery chargers
  •  Earthing/ground grid and lightning protection systems
  •   Cable laying, termination, and cable management
  • Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, method statements, ITPs, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate daily site activities, manpower planning, equipment/material readiness, and sequencing.

2) Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce strict HSE compliance, including permit-to-work, LOTO, working at height, lifting operations, electrical safety, confined spaces, and excavation controls.
  •  Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, site audits, and incident investigations.
  • Drive a “zero harm” culture and ensure compliance with client and legal HSE requirements.

3) Quality Management

  • Implement project QA/QC requirements, ensuring inspections and testing are performed per ITPs and standards.
  • Monitor quality of installation, material compliance, test reports, and punch list closure.
  • Ensure proper documentation: inspection requests, NCR handling, corrective actions, as-built records.

4) Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain construction look-ahead plans (2-week / 4-week / rolling schedule).
  • Track progress vs baseline schedule and implement recovery plans where needed.
  • Coordinate shutdown/outage works and energization milestones with the utility/client.

5) Contractor & Subcontractor Management

  • Manage EPC contractor teams and subcontractors (civil, erection, cabling, relay testing, etc.).
  • Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, and construction procedures.
  • Monitor productivity, resource levels, and compliance with contract scope.

6) Interface Management & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as main interface between site execution, engineering, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, client/utility, and commissioning teams.
  • Coordinate with OEMs/suppliers for installation support and factory/site technical guidance.
  • Resolve site technical issues and support RFI/TQ management with engineering.

7) Testing & Commissioning Support

  • Coordinate completion checks, pre-commissioning, functional testing, and commissioning readiness.
  • Support relay testing, SCADA integration, interlocking checks, primary injection, secondary injection, SF6 checks (GIS), transformer testing, etc.
  • Lead construction punch list closure and support energization procedures and safety clearances.

8) Cost, Reporting & Documentation

  • Track and report on construction progress, risks, constraints, and resource status.
  • Control site-related costs and manage change/variation requests where applicable.
  • Ensure complete project handover documentation including as-builts and O&M deliverables.

qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Engineering / Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 3–8 5years experience in HV substation construction (preferably 132kV/220kV or above).
  • Proven experience managing HV yard works and protection/control installation.
  • Strong knowledge of AIS/GIS substations, transformers, switchgear, and HV cable systems.

Required Technical Skills

  • Construction practices for HV equipment installation and alignment
  • Understanding of protection & control systems and testing coordination
  • Experience with earthing systems, cable termination, and interfacing with SCADA/RTU
  • Familiarity with standards such as IEC, IEEE, utility standards, and site safety regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret:
  • Single line diagrams, GA/layout drawings
  •  Control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules
  •  ITPs, test procedures, commissioning plans
  •  HSE & Compliance Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of high-risk activities:
  • lifting/rigging, heavy equipment movement
  • energized work boundaries/switching procedures
  •  excavation and underground services
  • Certification preferred: **NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA**, First Aid (added advantage)
