Communication Intern (Content and Multimedia)

duties

Storytelling and Social Media Content:

  • Draft engaging social media content, including writing captions and posts, based on inputs from the Communications Officer.
  • Organize, sort, and process raw information (text, quotes, data) collected from the field to assist in creating short stories, testimonials, and progress updates.
  • Assist in updating the website or social media platforms with new content under supervision.

Multimedia Production:

  • Take photos and record videos during events, meetings, and field activities, and also assist the Communications Officer during larger shoots.
  • Perform simple to intermediate video and photo editing using user-friendly tools like Premiere Pro, Lightroom or other mobile/desktop applications to prepare content for digital platforms.

Workflow and Archive Management:

  • Take the lead on organizing, labeling, and archiving all incoming photo and video files systematically in the digital multimedia archive to ensure easy access for the team. 
  • Assist the Communications Officer in tracking the progress of ongoing tasks and deadlines using project management tools or trackers.
  • Maintain a physical archive of all printing media materials for inventory of communication material including files, brochures, major reports, magazines, and others.

Team Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Follow all branding, quality, and ethical guidelines for content creation as shared by the supervisor.
  • Prepare a daily and weekly written update of tasks completed to show working progress.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the Communications Officer or Specialist to support the team's objectives.


qualification

Technical Skills:

  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, file organization).
  • Proven ability to take good quality photos and videos using a smartphone or a professional camera.
  • Experience with simple editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Lightroom, Canva, CapCut, or similar mobile/desktop apps is essential.
  • An active interest in and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, etc.).

Personal Attributes:

  • A strong motivation to learn and contribute actively to a professional communications team.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, follow instructions, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative, highly organized, proactive, and a strong team player.

Harakat is an independent, not-for-profit, Afghan-managed organisation that aims to improve Afghanistan’s business environment. We provide grant funds to the private sector, government and civil society to implement activities to reduce or remove barriers that currently make it difficult to do business in Afghanistan.

Project Background

The International Finance Corporation (IFC – World Bank) and Harakat-AICFO have collaborated for a new initiative titled “For the Private Sector by the Private Sector – Advocacy Forum” to empower and support the Afghan private sector. The project aims to strengthen the existing coordination mechanisms and help prioritize major issues faced by the Afghan private sector. The forum will also support the private sector to identify challenges and promote reforms and solutions through engagement with various government departments as well as the other national and international private sector organizations including International Development Agencies (IDAs).
