Social Mobilizer (Couple only)

duties

Community Engagement and Mobilization:

  • Conduct community outreach activities to raise awareness and promote behavior change around key health topics (e.g., maternal and child health, NCD prevention, hygiene).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local leaders, influencers, and other community stakeholders to facilitate program activities.
  • Organize and facilitate community-based events such as health talks, discussions, and training sessions.

Behavior Change Campaigns:

  • Support the development and implementation of SBC campaigns tailored to the cultural context of Herat.
  • Promote key messages on health practices, such as vaccination, sanitation, nutrition, and safe motherhood.
  • Use various communication channels (e.g., community radio, social media, face-to-face meetings) to disseminate SBC materials and messages.

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Train and mentor community health workers, peer educators, and volunteers to effectively deliver SBC messages at the community level.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to local facilitators in the planning and delivery of SBC activities.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Regularly monitor the progress of SBC activities and assess the impact on community knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • Collect and analyze data from the field, ensuring accurate and timely reporting on community engagement and behavior change outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to the program manager and suggest adjustments to improve the effectiveness of the SBC program.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with other program teams (e.g., health, WASH, protection) to ensure integrated service delivery and reinforce consistent health messages.
  • Work closely with local health facilities to ensure community members are aware of and utilizing available health services.
  • Coordinate with local government authorities and NGOs to align activities and maximize the impact of SBC initiatives.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate from Nursing and/or Midwifery faculty
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilization, public health, or SBC programming, preferably in Herat.
  • Experience working in rural or underserved communities is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate community members.
  • Knowledge of SBC strategies and techniques, particularly in health promotion and behavior change.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is required; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Personal Attributes:

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong commitment to community development.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and overcome challenges in the field.
  • Respect for local customs, culture, and traditions.

Languages:

  • Fluent in Dari and/or Pashto (both preferred).
  • Good working knowledge of English (spoken and written).

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with community mobilization tools, SBC materials, and data collection methods.
