Scope of work: The Freelancing and Remote Work Expert will undertake the following to ensure the success of the project:


1. Identifying universities to collaborate in developing a curriculum focused on online work and freelancing. The goal is to equip young people with in-demand skills, enabling them to access online employment opportunities and contribute effectively to the digital economy. 

2. Creating questionnaires for conducting assessments and mapping the main stakeholders and universities in Afghanistan to determine the requirements for developing an online work and freelancing curriculum. At least 10 universities and 5 private sectors to be identified and assessed.

3. Developing a comprehensive digital and online business curriculum and learning materials that are available in three languages: English, Pashto, and Dari. The curriculum should encompass the latest trends in online, freelancing and digital work, with a particular focus on freelancing, tailored to match the skills and needs of Afghan youth based on research findings and assessments. 

4. Work closely with graphic designers to prepare the curriculum for printing as a booklet and online PDF publishing. Reviewing the print version and providing necessary comments to standardize the booklet.

5. Conduct four Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for identified university teachers using the developed curriculum. The ToT program should involve a minimum of 20 teachers.

6. Regular visits will be required within selected project sites. 

7. Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.


Institutional arrangement: The Freelancing and Remote Work Expert will work under the supervision and guidance of the “Digital Solutions for Recovery” Project Manager and in close collaboration with project team. 

Payment: Monthly bases

Duration of the assignment: 3 months (May 20 to August 20, 2025)

Duty station: Kabul city, Afghanistan.

Experience and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information and Communication Technologies, Digital Marketing, or related fields.


Experience and Skills:

• Minimum of 3 years with Bachelor’s degree of relevant experience in the field of freelancing and remote work with a focus on addressing digital divides, digital literacy, and technology access in diverse settings, including crisis contexts.

• Demonstrated expertise in developing and designing online business education curricula, with a proven track record of creating engaging and effective learning materials.

• Proven experience in conducting assessments and analysis of digitalization and innovation related activities, particularly on digital business and freelancing.

• Direct working experience in innovation, digitalization and partnership with related stakeholders and private sector companies is a must. 

• Ability to organize and conduct training and presentations in online workshops and seminars.

• Strong knowledge and understanding sub-national institutional contexts of Afghanistan in terms of promotion of innovation and digitalization.

• Previous experience of working with international organizations, NGOs and private sector companies is an asset.


Competencies: 

• Strong interpersonal, digital and communication skills.

• Good oral and analytical communication and writing skills 

• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of programming softs is a strong advantage.

• A good team player, self-starter, has the ability to work under minimum supervision and maintain good relationships.


Language Requirements: Proficiency in written and spoken English and fluency in local languages, Pashto and Dari is required.
